My God, It's Full of Stars!

I think I've solved the final problem I was having in getting the skyboxes to be seamless. I haven't actually tested it yet, but I can't imagine that it work. The only problem is that my solution is a pain to implement by hand. Instead of making all of the large foreground stars on a single layer I have to make each one on a new layer, do a feathered elliptical selection around it, invert the selection, delete selected, merge the layer down onto the actual foreground layer, and then deselect so I don't accidentally much up the next one. That prevents the rays of each star from radiating out across the entire texture and highlighting the seams.

I've already talked to James about writing a GIMP plugin that will streamline the various layering and selection steps before I go nuts pumping out more backgrounds.

I'm having less luck on the modeling front. I've got a few ideas kicking around in my head, I just haven't been able to realize them yet. I think I'm getting too focused on the details and need to take a step back. That and I don't so much have ideas for whole ships as I do for just a bunch of disparate parts.
